Eastern European songcraft, sloth & quiz this Wednesday

This Wednesday will mark the last Klub Gutenberg for a while as we give it a rest for the summer months... but what a way to go! Not only will we have the staple mass-hit prize music quiz (last time, a Q-mag affiliate team stole the crown of psychedelic rock group Teeth Of The Sea) but interactive entertainment for mind and vocal chords.

The Perunika Trio, three ladies who explore the best of the Eastern European folk tradition, will be educating our audience in the singing of their songs. It'll go a little like this: the Trio will divide the room into three, according to vocal pitch. Then teach each section a simple Slavic harmony – before getting us all to sing in glorious leibzeit unison. You really don't have to be Rufus Wainwright to take part. KG's Roy Wilkinson once participateed in Devon and it was great. Be even better with room of drink-takers. You can listen to the Bulgarian, Macedonian and Russian traditional music of the Sisters here

National Geographic broadcaster Lucy Cooke will give her uproarious Sloth Appreciation Society talk. The sloth is one of nature's most derided animals, but Lucy will reveal why being lazy is a winning strategy in the evolutionary arms race. You can find out more about Lucy's work at her website.

Tickets for the night are available here, but we're also giving away three pairs of tickets to whoever can submit to the following easy demand: as well as the Quietus and Rough Trade Books' Wednesday night entertainment, please tell us of three other notable Gutenbergs, from history to the modern day. Please email comps@thequietus.com with your suggests. Klub Gutenberg is at the Old Queen's Head on Essex Road, the quiz begins at 20:00.
