Inspirational singer Etta James has died, it has been announced. James, who was 73, had been suffering from leukemia, hepatitis C and dementia. Lupe De Leon, James’ manager, made the announcement of her demise earlier today. James had been rushed to hospital and placed on a life support machine in December 2011, but was allowed to leave on January 5th of this year. Speaking in December, De Leon had said "Her husband is with her 24 hours a day, and her sons visit regularly. We’re all very sad. We’re just waiting."
