The Happy Mondays Reform!

Original line-up back together!

Over the past few weeks the Quietus has been hearing rumours that yet another giant group from music past was set to get back together for a series of live events in 2012. Now we can confirm that following their city-mates The Stone Roses back into the live arena will be the original line-up of The Happy Mondays. We’ve learned that Shaun Ryder, Paul Ryder, Gary Whelan, Bez and Rowetta Satchell, along with former members Mark Day and Paul Davis (not included in the 1999 reformation) are currently taking bookings for gigs and festival appearances. Says the call-out to promoters across Europe: "The rumours are true… Happy Mondays, the seminal Manchester band who changed musical culture forever has reformed and will be available for select live gigs across 2012". More on what these dates might be as and when we get it.
