'Ruins' Now online

Portico Quartet have released a new free track for your downloading pleasure, as well as a snazzy new video to accompany it. The new track 'Ruins' is being released to promote their new upcoming self-titled album which is being released by Real World Records. The album is due out on January 30th 2012.

The East End Londoners say they have expanded their previously acoustic sound to incorporate more electronic elements, influenced by such dubsteppy and J Dilla-ish musicians as Burial, Mount Kimbie, and Flying Lotus. The shift in creative direction was precipitated in large part by the departure of their original Hang player Nick Murray, which led to the remaining members experimenting with sampling the unusual instrument and combining it with electronic pads.
