Back in 1997 Mark and Lard plucked one man band White Town – AKA Jyoti Mishra – out of bedroom obscurity and hurled him to the top of the charts by championing the infectious track ‘Your Woman’ An album, Women In Technology followed, and White Town was briefly signed to EMI. He then went on to release two more albums on his own independent label.
Following a five-year hiatus White Town is set to return with the brand new album Monopole. Mishra is still embracing the DIY aesthetic, and haswritten, performed and recorded all of the tracks on the album, and will be releasing it on his own label, Bzangy Records on December 5th.
In conjunction with the album release Mishra has made a series of videos to go with each track. The videos takes a tender look at youth culture, exploring rites of passage such as festivals, lesbian kisses, first tattoos and of course, heartbreak.
