EXCLUSIVE: Dreadnought - 'The Lake'
The Quietus , September 21st, 2011 07:15

Stream a track by Hemlock label boss Untold's new band, ahead of their appearance with Hessle Audio this Friday at Fabric

In advance of their appearance at Fabric this Friday, we've got a track to stream by Dreadnought, a duo made up of Jack Dunning and Samuel Chase (of Samuel & The Dragon). Dunning runs Hemlock Recordings, releasers of scratchy dubstep/garage music and original discoverers of James Blake, and also produces music under the alias Untold - his tracks helped to establish the melted-down, anything-goes approach to bass music that's become so common in the last eighteen months.

Dreadnought's earlier tracks were a little trip-hoppy in tone, but 'The Lake' has a darker, slightly more mechanistic edge, its four-to-the-floor beat a reminder of its producers' roots in dance music.

If you're in London this Friday night, Dreadnought play at Fabric as part of Hessle Audio's takeover of Room 2, alongside Ben UFO, Pangaea, Pearson Sound, Elgato b2b Billy Blanks, Objekt, Peverelist and more. Room 1 is the launch of Four Tet's Fabriclive CD, with Kieran Hebden and Caribou, and Room 3 is taken over by Eglo, with Alexander Nut and Funkineven. Advance tickets are sold out so getting there early is recommended - it promises to be an impressive evening.
