Olafur Arnalds, Jonny Greenwood & Stravinsky For Manchester Event
The Quietus , June 15th, 2010 13:32

Musicians (except Stravinsky of course. He was a composer. And is dead) unite in July

Our friends at Eat Your Own Ears are taking over Manchester's Bridgewater Hall on July 1st for an evening of music from a rather interesting range of contemporary composers and musicians. Jonny Greenwood will be opening the do, with his Popcorn Superhet Receiver, which apparently is named from a short wave radio catalogue and is inspired by white noise.

Avner Dorman will be mixing Middle-Eastern and orchestral percussion with what are mysteriously described as "symphonic forces", there'll be a performance of Stravinsky's Rites Of Spring, and the evening will be topped by a performance from Quietus favourite Olafur Arnalds playing material from his new album ...And They Have Escaped The Weight Of Darkness. These will be joined by musicians including the RNCM Symphony Orchestra, the RNCM Concert Orchestra, André de Ridder and the DYAD Percussion Duo. For tickets, priced a very reasonable £20, go here.
