Bad, Dad And Dangerous To Know: Father Figures In Hollywood
David Bax , November 16th, 2009 08:31

Not all substitute father figures were as successful as Arnie in Terminator 2, as Battleship Pretension's David Bax explains.

This Is England

Speaking of bad father figures, young Shaun couldn’t have picked a worse replacement than Combo, played with terrifying ferocity by Stephen Graham. Just when the angry child was starting to calm down and do the things a 12 year old should be doing (shaving his head, wearing Ben Sherman clothes), along comes a violent white supremacist that poor Shaun doesn’t know any better than to be convinced by. It’s a good thing his mother, who lets him hang out with people ten years older than he is, set such a good example.
