Gang Gang Dance

For all their tribal wailing, green hills and sunshine do not make a typical backdrop for a Gang Gang Dance performance. The quartet’s sonic forays are, at least on record, something that seems better suited to the concrete jungles of Bushwick than the Welsh countryside. Expectations are quickly turned on their heads, though, as GGD take to the stage and deliver one of the finest performances the Quietus has ever seen from the band. Strangest of all, the normally stern noiseniks appear to be smiling, with singer Liz Bougatsos flashing her pearly whites throughout their set. It’s the middle of the day on Friday, but Green Man is certainly off to a rousing start . . .

. . . unless of course you’re Quietus metal Viking John Doran. His initial wander around the site elicits a verdict of "This is fucking terrible. I’m surrounded by estate agents who think their entire existence is absolved by the fact they've got fucking shrubbery in their hair."
