Rock legends Deep Purple have revealed they will start work on a new album next year.

The band, who released their last album Rapture Of The Deep in 2005, will begin recording the new record in February 2010.

Lead singer Ian Gillan said: "I think we are ready to make another album. We’ve been talking about it for some time already. I think we’ll start to work on it next February."
