One of the main ways the fashion industry is like Hollywood is that each thinks it’s better than the other. When androgynous models march along a runway to nowhere in unwearable clothes, the whole scene thinks it’s experience high art. And when Robert Altman makes a smug, dismissive film about that same scene, he thinks he’s being profound.
