Jack Ryan

Three actors have played Jack Ryan, the hero of Tom Clancy’s novels also known as "the boring man’s James Bond". Alec Baldwin originated the role back in The Hunt For Red October back in the days when no one realized he was funny and everyone insisted he be an action star. Harrison Ford then growled laconically through two more adaptations, finally handing the role over to Ben Affleck for The Sum of All Fears. Which we’ll look back on with amusement one day when we all realize Affleck is funny and we wonder why we kept insisting he be an action star.
