The Jesus Lizard

This ATP was relying on Jesus Lizard, but mainman David Yow isn't reliable. See his belly. See his beer.

This is the first of two shows, on the Saturday night, and he's a portrait of anxiety. He paces the stage with amusing malice, removes his shirt and launches himself into the crowd on chord one. From the pit, he's somehow word-perfect.

The band: adolescent power, insane tautness and wild revenge on the hoards who stole their atonal thump but never bettered them. Lawrence from hard rockers Todd kisses me, and doesn't break my collarbone. Happy, heavy moments. The clown treated us well, like we were prizes. Good riddance.
