Comedy legend Richard Pryor was dying of muscular dystrophy at the time of this cameo; you would barely be able to recognise the gaunt, stuttering man you see here as the cocksure stand-up who invented modern observational comedy as we know it. It might seem an exploitative move by Lynch but if anyone could find the comedy in his own predicament, it would be Pryor.
