A genre as hokey as this one can only be helped by the postmodernist approach of our modern times. The movie is winking at you when the magical dust causes 13-year-old Jenny to suddenly become 30-year-old Jenny. And it continues winking and nudging with its constant references to the decade in which the body-switching trope had its heyday. And, like the next movie on this list, 13 Going on 30 actually has something to say.
