LISTEN: New King Felix

More dance music for Ballard's drowned world, chez Laurel Halo

Laurel Halo’s year so far has found her busy releasing a debut album (Quarantine) and minting a new side project, King Felix, for the inaugural release on Mute’s new Liberation Technologies imprint. Both have seen her expand her effects-laden synth-based music in drastically different directions: the former into adventurous electronic pop, and the latter into the most club-friendly tracks she’s released to date. That’s a relative measure, of course, something highlighted by this latest track to emerge from her King Felix alter ego – loosely a techno track, but sunk deep enough into warm tropical water that its edges are hard to trace.
