Listen to the title track of new Perc Trax EP

As you may have worked out by now, Perc’s Perc Trax is one of our favourite small labels in the UK, having released some killer music in 2012 from the likes of Forward Strategy Group, ASC and Perc himself, and hit their 50th release this year.

Now they’ve announced that long-running Perc Trax associate Truss will be the subject of their latest release, the Ganymede EP, which will be released both on vinyl (on 14th September) and digital (on 28th September). The vinyl features four tracks – two originals, and two remixes – and the digital release also features an additional Perc Dub of the title track.

The title track, which you can listen to below, sees the London-based producer create a remarkably effective fusion of acid and industrial techno influences, subtly referencing back to the relentless sounds of nineties techno protagonists such as Joey Beltram.

The opener is strong enough to warrant two fantastic remixes, one from the boss himself Perc, and the other from Birmingham based Horizontal Ground affiliate Skirt. Perc’s remix follows the original down a similarly merciless path, shaking free any excessive baggage before letting loose Wells’ signature warehouse strength rhythms. The second remix, from Texas-born Bethany Demoss, aka Skirt, takes a more minimal approach, eschewing bumping acid flexes and metallic percussion for something more dark and atmospheric, rolling out clattering woodblocks and muffled bass drones.

The final track is another Truss original entitled ‘Hackney’, again referencing acid but with a more stripped back take on the idea than the opening track. Although the track is comprised of significantly fewer elements, its twitchy, squealing synth melody keeps the track equally as intrusive as the rest of the offerings on the EP.
