LISTEN: Welsh Male Voice Choir Do New Order!

Shot in Prisoner village!

About the only decent musical moment of the shower that was the Olympic Closing Ceremony was the presence of two London male voice choirs. What is it about the men of that proud nation singing in unison that can move so? And also, what is it about the music of Joy Division and New Order that lends it to odd covers – see also Jeremy Deller’s steel drum cavalcade. Anyway, New Order will shortly be playing Festival No.6, which takes place in the bizarre North Wales village that was the setting for cult TV series The Prisoner. By way of a preview, the Brythoniad Welsh Male Voice Choir went along to Portmeirion to sing their version of ‘Blue Monday’. Watch it above.
