Fuck Buttons Played In Olympic Opening Ceremony

As you may well have heard by now, transcendental noisegaze artists Fuck Buttons were played during the Olympic Opening Ceremony tonight.

The ATP signed future trance duo had the track ‘Surf Solar’ played as bed music at the start of the event. Later, and less surprisingly, a new remix of ‘Olympians’ was used during the athlete’s parade.

The event was simultaneously broadcast live to over one billion people worldwide which is said to be even more than a capacity crowd at the Pavilion Stage, Butlins, Minehead.

Also played no less than three times (along with a version recorded by the London Symphony Orchestra at Abbey Road Studios) was ‘Sundowner’ by Blanck Mass, the electronic side project of Fuck Button, Ben Power.

While the Quietus take a pretty dim view of the Olympics overall, we’re really glad to see some musical good come out of it. Nice work Andrew and Ben.
