As we’ve previously reported, the Quietus and Supersonic are very excited by the prospect of our two Supersonic warm up gigs, featuring a meeting of supreme heaviness: Kevin Martin’s King Midas Sound and Justin Broadrick’s JK Flesh. The two, who previously played together in Techno Animal, will be playing at Birmingham’s Eastside Projects on August 4th, and London’s Corsica Studios on August 9th.
Martin’s King Midas Sound System will be reprising their excellent recent gig in support of The Congos at London’s Village Underground, with a set drawing together unreleased dubs, their own tunes, plus other artists’ music, all vocalled by KMS voices Kiki Hitomi and Roger Robinson. For a taster of what to expect, you can watch a video of their performance at 2010’s Supersonic above, a show so monumentally heavy it instantly converted members of the Quietus staff to the KMS cause, and rearranged internal organs for several days afterward.
JK Flesh, meanwhile, is Broadrick’s outlet for metal-plated, post-industrial dub – his new album Posthuman is a cast-iron wrecking ball of a record, brilliant but not for the faint hearted. You can read our recent interview with the man himself here.
In Birmingham, support will be in the form of Iron Fist Of The Sun, Laurence Hunt and Sarah Farmer, and you can buy tickets here. Glatze is in support at Corsica Studios, and for ticket information, head here.
