The Royal Parks and Blur fans are locked in a battle over graffiti on a pathway on popular posh person pram pushing perambulation spot Primrose Hill. Back in 2000, an Australian fan painted "and the view’s so nice", a line from Blur’s ‘For Tomorrow’, on the pavement. There it has stuck, until the Royal Parks and Camden Council obliterated it, reports the Camden New Journal.
"The attempt last weekend to reproduce a graffiti Blur lyric was made without consultation with The Royal Parks, or any other local stakeholders, so the area will be cleaned," said a spokesperson. ARGH, THEY USED ‘STAKEHOLDER’. "The Royal Parks has completed a project to improve the landscape at the summit of the Hill and has included an inscription there."
Apparently the parks are not adverse to words appearing on the Hill, but if they are to be there, they’d rather have something a little more old school: "The Blur lyric was considered but was beaten by a line from William Blake: ‘I have conversed with the spiritual sun. I saw him on Primrose Hill’. I hope that people who visit the Hill appreciate this in the way that some people appear to have appreciated the Blur lyric." We sniff a conspiracy!
