Brooklyn band Cult Of Youth, led by Sean Ragon, are set to release their new album Love Will Prevail on 3rd September through Sacred Bones. Billed as an "experimental exploration of post-industrial folk, psychedelia and post-punk", it was recorded in Ragon’s home studio, and features contributions from Glenn Maryansky (drums), Christiana Key (violin), Beverly Hames (vocals) and the rather oddly monikered ning ning (percussion). Says Ragon of the song: "This song reflects the concept of being able to step outside of the win or lose mentalities that keep us engaged in perpetual conflict. The desire to impose one’s will over one’s opponents shows a desire for a relationship (however sickly that relationship might be). You cannot fight the system with the system’s tools, and even acts of peaceful protest are an engagement of conflict with the establishment.
"The idea behind both this song and this record is to inspire people to step away from their ego and transform the nature of society by functioning differently in their day to day lives and actually CREATING something real. Far too many so-called radicals expend all of their energy and vitality screaming about the problems of the world in the wretched mire of politics while they work shit job after shit job and drink themselves to death. Wake up children! It’s your world and it’s your future."
Around the album’s release the band will play a series of dates in September in the UK, and at the Incubate Festival in Tilburg, which the Quietus are media partners of. Dates run as follows:
