King Midas Added To Sun Araw/Congos Show

Kevin Martin & Kiki Hitomi to play an MC/DJ set in support of psych/reggae collaborative show, in London in June

As we previous reported, the psych/dub/reggae dream team of The Congos, Sun Araw & M. Geddes Gengras are set to perform live in London in June, following the release next week of their gloopy, sweetly hazed Icon Give Thank/Icon Eye collaborative album/film. The show is set to take place at the Village Underground on 22nd June.

Now they’ve announced a seriously weighty addition to the bill, which ought to dispel doubts about shelling out for tickets. Kevin Martin’s King Midas Sound have been added to the bill in a DJ/MC role. Rather than a standard DJ set, it will feature Kiki Hitomi adding live vocals and K-Mart on the decks, and will showcase new versions and exclusive dubs. "Be prepared for a sonic anaesthetic," they say. "Slow, oceanically deep and beautifully glacial, and a zoned-out counterpoint to King Midas Sound’s live db avalanche … Bass, drones, tones and infinite reverb mark the spot where immersion is the key".

Tickets are £20 and available here.
