LISTEN: Paul Weller’s Sonik Kicks Full Album

More Actual Modern Than Mod From The Sharp Suited One

The pressure that Paul Weller feels from the heritage rock press and his own trenchant fan base to record yet another Modern Mod Classic must be quite something.

So more power to the handsome old cove’s elbow for kicking against the pricks somewhat.

Sonik Kicks casts its net impressively wide taking in psych rock, electro, French pop, ska, chamber pop, electronica and more. None of this is at the expense of his obvious flair for melody however and it is one of his strongest albums to date.

And now, thanks to his nibs, you can check it out yourself below.

As he said himself recently: “I’m not an expert on the digital world but know it’s how most people hear their music and I’m proud of this album so want as many people to hear it as possible. I’m also playing it in full at the Roundhouse for five nights ahead of release so the fans can hear it in its full running order live."
