YOB’s Mike Scheidt Announces Solo Album

Stay Awake to see release through Thrill Jockey on 11th June

More details are emerging from Thrill Jockey about Mike Scheidt’s solo album Stay Awake.

The frontman of Portland, Oregon US doom standard bearers Yob is releasing his debut LP on June 11.

The album was recorded by Tad Doyle at his Witch Ape Studios in Seattle and explores a more introspective, stripped back sound based more in Western and Eastern folk music than doom.

Speaking about his lyrics Scheidt says: "[They are about] the present moment, hope, love and redemption. The big picture caught in a snapshot, looking at fear and doubt squarely, and making friends with them. My words are sympathetic/empathetic to sadness and heartbreak, while exploring transcendental themes in the same breath.”
