Mastodon Cover The Flaming Lips

Stateside metallers to cover ‘A Spoonful Weighs A Ton’, and to release a split with Feist (!)

American metallers Mastodon are set to cover The Flaming Lips’ ‘A Spoonful Weighs A Ton’. A 7” in baby pink, released on Record Store Day, will find the metallers paying homage to the Lips song from the classic The Soft Bulletin album.

As if that’s not enough excitement for one day, Record Store Day will also see the band release an unlikely 7” split with Feist. The record features a Feist cover of Mastodon’s ‘Black Tongue’, and a Mastodon cover of Feist’s ‘A Commotion’. The idea for the split apparently arrived after the both acts appeared together on Jools Holland’s Later.
