Some nice deep, dark atmospheres for a Friday afternoon (or the depths of a tired Saturday, perhaps?). Donato Dozzy, the musician responsible for some marvelously labyrinthine techno and electronic experiments – it’s been referred to in the past as ‘headfuck techno’, which is as beautiful a description as anyone’s come up with for a while – is releasing a new album next week. Voices From The Lake is a collaboration with Neel, and finds his sound plumbing even darker depths than 2010’s masterful K album (again, as suitable an album title as you’re likely to find). All heartbeat kickdrums, sonar pings and the rhythms that trickle like liquid, it’s an immersive listen. The project had its genesis in a collaborative performance between the two at Japan’s Labyrinths festival last year.
