OK GO: New Video, Old Ideas?

Any regular reader of Private Eye‘s Ad Nauseum column will know that plagarism is rife in the advertising industry, with ‘creatives’ all too keen to knock off someone else’s idea. Indeed, Ad Nauseum has previously featured the fiendishly complicated music videos that have brought OK GO’s pisspoor music to the attention of millions, and then been used as heavy inspiration by various ad agencies. But are OK GO themselves up to the same old tricks? A Quietus reader has got in touch pointing out how their new cut for the track ‘Needing/Getting’ (a car driven by OK GO as various appendages hit things, creating song) follows a similar idea to a viral YouTube hit where a group of kids used a radio controlled guitar to play the Mario Cart theme on glass bottles.
