Guido Launches New Label

Bristolian technicolour dubstep/R'n'B producer returns with two new tracks, released through his own label State Of Joy

Bristolian producer Guido, whose Anidea album was one of 2010’s underground highlights, is to release his first solo 12" since the album through his own new label, State Of Joy, this month. Thanks to his location and close associations, Guy Middleton’s music has often been associated with dubstep – in particular friends and contemporaries Joker and Gemmy – though it’s far more ambitious and wide reaching than either of those two, stretching outward to take in the lustrous melodies of R’n’B, jazz and soul, and totally eclipsing Joker’s tepid The Vision LP in every respect.

‘Micro X’/’Vessel Dogs’ will be released on January 23rd – you can listen to clips of it here. ‘Micro X’ is our favourite of the two – somewhere around the sci-fi dub of Anidea‘s ‘Shades Of Blue’, it’s a beautifully downcast, effects-drenched listen.

Middleton is also currently working on a live show of new and old material, complete with a 4-piece band.

For more new Guido material, you can listen to his latest ’29 Minute Mix’ – consisting entirely of his own new productions – below.
