Aranofsky Directs Lou Reed & Metallica Vid

IMMENSE BIGHEAD TWATTERY ENSUES!

Award-winning film director Darren Aronofsky, best known for directing such films as Requiem for a Dream, The Wrestler, & Black Swan, has teamed up with the incredulity-stretching pairing of Lou Reed & Metallica.

The critically acclaimed director has filmed a music video for the track ‘Iced Honey’ off of Lou Reed & Metallica’s divisive new album Lulu (read Julian Marszalek’s deployment of his Polish boot here. The video was filmed in the San Francisco Bay Area and will be available for your viewing pleasure later in the month.

While the world is becoming increasingly puzzled by the fruit of the Lou Reed/Metallica unison, they themselves appear increasingly delighted. Lou Reed has said of the Aronofsky collaboration that "I have loved Darren Aronofsky since he did Pi. I hope I can be his next Black Swan". Metallica drummer Lars Ulrich enthusiastically added that "As if making a record with Lou Reed is not enough, now I get to make a video with Darren Aronofsky, who has been among my very favourite filmmakers since his first movie, Pi. This is turning into a monumental chapter in the on-going saga entitled ‘Lars Ulrich… living the dream!’"

Things just appear to be getting stranger and stranger in the on-going saga of Lou Reed, Lars Ulrich, and the rest of Metallica. It begs the question of what future Lulu based collaborations are in store from the eyebrow raising bunch. Perhaps an Andrew Lloyd Webber stage adaptation, a Karl Lagerfeld Lulu inspired casual men’s wear collection, a Lou Reed/Metallica fruit flavoured mineral water line? God only knows what they’ve yet to unleash on the world.
