Neo-Haggerston is exploding! To celebrate the 20th birthday of the Japanese anime house that inspired him, our sunshine haired friend Akira The Don has released his new mixtape, ATD26 – Manga Music.
The tape is a tribute to Manga Entertainment. Each track samples one of their animated films, and is named after said release.
And acting as a referee to the good character of the music contained on his mixed compilation, there is an incomprehensible testimonial from the improbably named Mocky: "@akirathedon is killing it on this shit! listen to golgo 13! i am rocking with IT! @akirathedon YOU invented this shit!"
While the young gentleman Master Mocky is no doubt a field leader in understanding beats, the Quietus is willing to wager cash money that he is probably in want of functioning belt or braces.
Also talking barely functional English is the perennially chipper Mr Don himself: "You’re gonna love it cos it is HARD and the sub bass is CRAZY, and it is on some next level shit. Special guests include Big Narstie, Pixel, Littles, Marvin The Martian, and the Bay Area’s Time of whom URB recently said, ‘Time manufactures swag. Time is the future.’"
You can listen to the concept mix tape below and if you should so wish you can visit his site here to buy lovely merch and mix tapes. Highly recommended is his new range of hooded tops which, when combined with a bristling pair of lamb chops, is all you need to keep your neck warm this winter.
