New No Pain In Pop signing patten has recorded a rather excellent album, entitled, confusingly, GLAQJO XAACSSO (no, us neither). It’s a record drenched in excess sound – its glitchy percussion and constantly shifting rhythms recall classic Warp and Planet Mu material, while also bringing to mind modern explorers of similar textures like Laurel Halo and Oneohtrix Point Never.
Watch out for our review later today, where we describe the album as "prone to mood swings, cuddling up to you with some Boards of Canada-style loveliness one second then frothing at the mouth with overprogrammed intensity the next, with sinister voices low in the mix, replicating the fried gobbledygook that runs through your head after too many excesses. "
The album is available now from the No Pain In Popwebsite.
