The Brandt Brauer Frick Ensemble release their new album Mr. Machine in October through !K7, and in advance of its release we have an exclusive track to give away. ‘Pretend’ features the vocal stylings of Ninja Tune’s Emika, in a chilly ice-queen performance that also features in modified form on her upcoming debut album (on the track ‘Pretend’, funnily enough). Around her, the Ensemble create a dense mesh of percussion and struck melodies, with the result feeling strangely fluid despite the rigid 4/4 drum beat that underpins everything.
