After great gigs thus far by Wire, Cold Cave, Anika, Teeth Of The Sea, our stage at Field Day and so on, we’re pleased to be welcoming back to London the band that we first put on back in late 2009. Yes, the mighty MY DISCO, one of the very best groups currently playing in Australia, are to headline The Lexington for us on September 15th. Their Albini-worked album Little Joy (reviewed here) is a Quietus LP of the year and, by listening to the track ‘Belong’ on our Soundcloud below, you’ll be able to get something an idea of its heavy, dense, intense grace. Live too, My Disco are masters of dynamics (we would have loved to see their cover of the entire of The Ramones Ramones as referred to in our interview here. Each time the Quietus has been to see them in London they’ve seemingly roadtested new material with fearsome potency. It’s dance music made by gyroscopic robots. Ignore at your peril. My Disco – ‘Young’ by theQuietusAlso playing on the bill will be German purveyors of skittish punk funk, the vowel-defying PTTRNS. You can hear a session from them via the Soundcloud link below. Factory Floor will be on hand to play examples of their sonic DNA via a much-anticipated DJ set that. Expect to be blasted and agitated in equal amounts. And yes! Buy tickets for £8 here
