Recently the Quietus had the pleasure of flying to Iceland for a spot of lunch with Bjork, during which we discussed her genuinely astonishing, bold and ambitious new album / app / educational project Biophilia. You’ll be able to read an extensive interview on the site very soon, but for now, let’s enjoy the first track from Biophilia, the brilliant ‘Crystalline’, where Bjork sings of the formation of crystals over a track that starts in clear glacier stream minimalism before a terrifying, surprising conclusion. The image above is a shot from Bjork’s rehearsals for the forthcoming live debut of Biophilia at the Manchester International Festival. Again, from what we’ve seen of the instrumentation and plans for performance, those of you lucky enough to have managed to get tickets are in for a real treat.
