Our friend John-Paul Pryor is publishing a book called Spectacles and we’re DJing the launch on Thursday Night. And why are we telling you this? Because he (and Seabrook Press and All Visual Arts) has asked us to invite you of course.
The launch is at 2 Omega Place, just off the Kings Cross end of Caledonian Road, London, N1 and runs between 6 and 9pm. There will be readings from playwright Rebecca Lenkiewicz and author Henry Hemmings as well as music courtesy of John Doran.
If you want to come send an email to Camilla: ccole@allvisualarts.org.
What’s the book about? Well J-P is a mysterious cove at the best of times and hasn’t got round to telling us. Instead, he said, why don’t you read the first chapter here.
Whatever the subject it looks like it’s going to be a bit of a bracing read and it comes with plenty of recommendations:
"The scattered emotional responses of a young man, lost in the dream of life, hungering for connections." Billy Childish
"The most seriously dark, violent and disturbing work I have ever read. Paradoxically it is a beautifully poetic story of some sad love-starved characters attracted to the mystery of self-destruction." Marnie Webber
See you there.
