If Grinderman is the uncle who you’d invite to your wedding only for him to woo your virginal cousin, then the National is the more refined coves who’d be found with a no-smoking sign dangling off his pipe after a few Hobgoblins. This unholy meeting is well heard in this excellent take on ‘Evil’, created by Silver Alert who are, interestingly, a project seemingly comprised of Grinderman’s Jim Sclavunos and fellow Greek-American Peter Mavrogeorgis, a handsome fellow we last encountered fronting the excellent New York trio Bellmer Dolls.
