Much has been made of the Arctic Monkeys evolution from post-Oasis/Libertines indie troupe from Steel City into hirsute, Homme-approved (the garrulous production man, not the suit maker) young gentlemen of rock. Now, the band have made their new single ‘Don’t Sit Down ‘Cause I’ve Moved Your Chair’ available on their Soundcloud. First impressions? Well, that title isn’t going to silence those who say they sound like George Formby gone Britpop… but beyond that, it’s a respectable piece of muscular racket, even if the beginning does sound like Teenage Fanclub’s ‘Sparky’s Dream’ being given a kicking in a dusty lot in a no-good part of town.
