Thomas Dolby Hosts TEDx In Aldeburgh

Discussions on music at symposium

Anyone looking at the coast of Suffolk from space this weekend might be startled to see a throbbing glow, almost as if a coastal nuclear power station had overbrewed itself. This is because the great Thomas Dolby is hosting a series of talks and discussions as part of TEDx in Aldeburgh. Dolby is Musical Director of the event, which also features contributions from Louis Lortie, Martyn Ware, Tim Exile, Imogen Heap, United Visual Artists, David Toop and others.

Says the Tedx blurb, "In the spirit of ideas worth spreading, TED has created a program called TEDx. TEDx is a program of local, self-organized events that bring people together to share a TED-like experience. Our event is called TEDxAldeburgh, where x=independently organized TED event.

"At our TEDxAldeburgh event, TEDTalks video and live speakers will combine to spark deep discussion and connection of ideas around music. The TED Conference provides general guidance for the TEDx program, but individual TEDx events, including ours, are self-organized."

More details of the event can be found on the er, Big TED blog here, while ticket and venue information is here.
