Aphex Twin Has ‘Six Albums’ Of New Material

Richard D James drops tantalising details about new records, but doesn't mention a release date...

Praise the lord! Quietus favourite Aphex Twin has revealed that he has completed six albums. Speaking to Another Man magazine, Richard D James confirmed that he had finished working on new material, but dropped no hints as to when people would be able to hear it.

James said: "I’ve got six. Two are very non-commercial, abstract, modular-synthesis field recordings – those I finished four years ago. Another one is Melodies From Mars, which I redid about three years ago.

"There’s one of stuff I won’t go into: a comp of old tracks which is never really finished and always changing. And then one I’m working on now. There are also loads of tracks which don’t belong anywhere."

Unfortunately, there’s still no official word on when we’ll hear any new material. The last Aphex Twin album, Drukqs, was released in 2001.
