While we await tidings of a new Sunn O))) record – a beast that will apparently feature gospel singers and chainsaws – the robed titans of doom are releasing an EP of a concert recorded in a Norwegian church.
Pitchfork reports that the Dømkirke EP (named for the 12th Century church in which the concert was recorded) will be released on double vinyl, and feature four lengthy pieces of music. Stephen O’Malley and Greg Anderson were accompanied by Steve Moore on the church organ, Lasse Marhaug on electronics, and Atilla Csihar singing his usual dulcet harmonies and arpeggios.
The EP will be available on vinyl only, 5,000 copies of the standard stuff, 1,000 blue, and 900 clear with black streaks. We’re off to Rough Trade in a bit to nab one, with the tracklisting looking a little something like this:
‘Why Dost Thou Hide Thyself in Clouds?’
‘Cannon’
‘Cymatics’
‘Masks the Ætmospheres’
