The UK’s leading corduroy wearer is to give a talk on racy lyrics at the UK’s leading music convention.
The former Pulp man will take to the stage on Tuesday October 7 at The Midland Hotel, Manchester to give his Saying The Unsayable lecture on all aspects of song lyrics.
The subjects covered will include ‘Should Songs Rhyme?’, ‘Are Songs Poetry?’, ‘Is There Anything You Can’t Write Songs About?’, ‘Which Phrases Should be Avoided at All Costs?’ and ‘Great First Lines’ ( amongst many others).
As well as his own work he intends to investigate songs by Leonard Cohen, Pete Doherty, Hot Chocolate, Amy Winehouse, David Bowie, Lou Reed, Neil Sedaka, Dory Previn, Katerine, Rozalla and Arctic Monkeys as well as an in-depth analysis of the words to ‘Louie, Louie’…
