According to footage from this weekend’s Glastonbury Festival, Mark E Smith has been busy typing out P45s for the first time in a few years. The burly Mancunians are gone, and Mark E Smith seems to have replaced them with a bunch of effete ponces (including the former singer from also-ran Britpop group Seymour) and The Fall’s first black member. Wearing his trademark black leather jacket and reading lyrics from a sheet of paper, Smith led the group through a rendition of a song that harks back to their 90s output (a hint of the poppier moments of Light User Syndrome) with perhaps a little heft from 2000’s The Unutterable. Someone has, however, added an element of shit:
