Emily Eavis & Oxfam Hold Haiti Auction

Artists donate items to raise aid

Emily Eavis and Oxfam have organised a special auction to raise recovery funds for Haiti.

Starting from today, a selection of unique items donated by artists will be sold on eBay, with all proceeds going to straight to the Oxfam recovery fund in Haiti.

Arctic Monkeys frontman Alex Turner has donated his Stratocaster guitar, The Chemical Brothers have given one of their drum machines, and Damon Albarn has agreed to write a song for the highest bidder for his services.

There will also be several Glastonbury related items including VIP tickets to the festival this summer.

To see the items up for grabs from other artists including the Manic Street Preachers, Doves and Vivian Westwood, click <a href=http://www.glastonburyfestivals.co.uk/news/oxfam-auction-for-haiti-open-now" target="out">here.

A message from Emily Eavis and Oxfam read: When I visited Haiti with Oxfam in 2002 we witnessed some incredible people facing extreme hardship head-on with immense strength in spirit and no self pity. As we have all seen from the reports, Haiti simply does not have the resources to cope with a disaster on this scale and desperately needs our help now.

I am working with Oxfam to create an online auction of one-off items from artists that money can’t buy in the hope of raising funds to go quickly and directly to those that need it.

If you are able to help we will need a photo of you with your item before the end of the week and we are aiming to auction everything next week. Oxfam will take care of the rest. Please help if you can and donate something special to our auction to directly aid the recovery programme.

Thank you

Emily & Oxfam
