New Book, ‘Berghain Nights’, Set To Explore Berlin’s Nightlife

Berghain, Tresor and Cocktail d'Amore are among the Berlin clubbing institutions set to be put under the spotlight in the book

A new book surveying Berlin’s clubbing and nightlife scene is set to be published in 2025.

Marking Irish writer Liam Cagney’s long-form authorial debut, Berghain Nights: A Journey Through Techno And Berlin Club Culture will explore the city’s world-famous nightlife scene through a series of personal accounts, as well as interviews with a number of DJs who are cornerstones of the city’s clubs.

Berghain, Tresor, KitKatClub and Cocktail d’Amore are among the Berlin clubbing institutions that will be explored in Cagney’s book. "It asks how techno in a club context allows people to strip away layers of inherited hang-ups to access a realer self," according to a synopsis shared by independent publisher Reaktion, which will be putting out the book.

"I wrote Berghain Nights to make sense of my club experiences, and to show the cultural value of techno clubs like Berghain," Cagney said in a statement. "Reaktion right away got what I’m doing. They’re a fantastic home for music books and I couldn’t be prouder to join their distinguished list."

Reaktion will publish Berghain Nights: A Journey Through Techno And Berlin Club Culture in 2025.
