DJ Rashad’s ‘Double Cup’ Set For 10th Anniversary Reissue

The updated release will come with new artwork by illustrator and longtime friend of Rashad, Ashes57

DJ Rashad’s classic album Double Cup is set to be reissued to mark its 10th anniversary.

Due out in December, the new edition will take in new artwork by illustrator, photographer and longtime friend of Rashad, Ashes57, as well as a limited-edition gold vinyl pressing. The digital release will also include ‘Last Winter’, a Stevie Wonder-sampling track which was originally only available on now out-of-print CD versions of Double Cup. You can watch a new video for the track, featuring never-before-seen archive footage of Rashad and collaborators, above.

Originally released via Hyperdub and Rashad’s label, Teklife, in 2013, Double Cup is viewed as a groundbreaking album in the footwork genre. "It was really like a posse album for the most part, [introducing] DJ Earl, DJ Phil, Manny, myself, Taso," collaborator DJ Spinn said of the record in a statement. Rashad passed away just six months after its release, in April 2014.

Partisan will release Double Cup (10th Anniversary Edition) on December 8, 2023.
