Talking Heads To Reunite For Q&A Session Amid ‘Stop Making Sense’ Re-Release

'Stop Making Sense' has been restored for a new theatre release to mark its 40th anniversary

Members of Talking Heads are to reunite for a Q&A session at this September’s Toronto International Film Festival.

The film festival is set to host the premiere of the newly restored Stop Making Sense, the band’s 1984 part-live film, part-documentary which is being re-released to cinemas to mark 40 years since it was originally filmed. The Q&A, led by Spike Lee, will take place at Toronto’s Cineplex Scotiabank IMAX Theatre on September 11.

Global IMAX cinemas will screen the film’s 4K restoration live along with the Q&A on the night it takes place. Following that debut, the film will be exclusively available in IMAX theatres on September 22, before being released to other theatres on September 29.

Speaking to People earlier this month about the film’s re-release, as well as the break-up of Talking Heads, frontman David Byrne said: "As a younger person, I was not as pleasant to be around. When I was working on some Talking Heads shows, I was more of a little tyrant. And then I learned to relax, and I also learned that collaborating with people, both sides get more if there’s a good relationship instead of me telling everybody what to do.

"I have regrets on how that was handled. I don’t think I did it in the best way, but I think it was kind of inevitable that would happen anyway. We have a cordial relationship now. We’re sort of in touch, but we don’t hang out together."
