Sacred Bones Unveils Mort Garson Archival Compilation

'Journey To The Moon And Beyond' takes in work for a National Geographic wildlife show, as well as the blaxploitation film 'Black Eye'

Sacred Bones is set to release an archival compilation of work by the late Canadian synth musician Mort Garson.

Taking in 15 tracks, Journey To The Moon And Beyond features music from across Garson’s musical archives, including soundtrack work for a 1970 National Geographic wildlife show and the 1974 blaxploitation film Black Eye. It also includes previously unreleased music he recorded for advertisements, as well as his soundtrack to the live broadcast of the 1969 Apollo 11 moon landing, as heard on CBS News. You can listen to that latter cut, ‘Moon Landing’, above.

Journey To The Moon And Beyond is the latest instalment of an ongoing reissue campaign of Garson’s work by Sacred Bones which began in 2020. Before that, the label reissued one of his best-known works, Mother Earth’s Plantasia, in 2019.

Sacred Bones will release Journey To The Moon And Beyond on July 21, 2023.
