A collection of Donna Summer’s possessions are set to be sold online by auction house Christie’s.
The memorabilia – which includes annotated lyrics, a silver goblet that she kept onstage to drink caffeine-free Pepsi, and gowns that she performed in – will go on sale on June 15, with the items having been recently gathered from the late artist’s Nashville home, where they had sat mostly untouched since her death in 2012. Christie’s estimates that the items are collectively worth somewhere between $200,000 and $300,000. A portion of the sales will be donated to St. Jude Children’s Research Hospital, Save The Music Foundation and Elton John AIDS Foundation.
Among the specific items listed for auction are handwritten lyrics for 1977 single ‘Now I Need You’, an annotated lyric sheet for 1979’s ‘On the Road’ and a glittery dress that summer wore in the music video for ‘Unconditional Love’. Check the full list of items here.
