Godflesh Detail New Album, ‘PURGE’

The record sees the duo revisit the project's 1992 album 'Pure'

Godflesh are releasing a new album, titled PURGE.

Out in June, it’s the first studio album from the group since 2017’s Post Self, and sees them revisit and update the concepts of Godflesh’s 1992 second album, Pure. The new record takes in eight tracks, with the lead cut, ‘NERO’, set to be unveiled alongside three remixes by Godflesh themselves on April 3.

The album’s title, according to press materials, "references directly how songwriter and creator Justin K. Broadrick utilises Godflesh’s music as a temporary relief from his diagnosed autism and PTSD." The record is also said to draw on ’90s hip hop grooves.

Godflesh will present PURGE and other material live at Birmingham’s Supersonic festival this September.

Avalanche Recordings will release PURGE on June 9, 2023.
